3 CHOSEN TEXTURES FOR EXPERIMENT

The texture on the left was from the Rotational category, the one in the middle was from the Flowing category and the texture on the right was from the Fractal category. I will be using the rotational one for Kerr's space as the circle will be a key shape in the scheme for her. I will be using the fractal texture for Keller's space as this category and the image I have chosen reminds me of the parasitic nature that I intend to use for her space. The middle texture will be used in the meeting place on the table as it will be floating on the surface of the water and this type of texture matches this idea.

Sketches and Plans for Experiment

These are the sketches of each of the client's spaces. Kerr's space is ironically shaped like an engagement ring, as her and her boyfriend Orlando Bloom have had their ups and downs about marriage according to the gossip in the press. Keller's space is strong (as she was a strong-spirited person) in the way it is placed like a parasite on the face of the rock. The bridge then also uses the shape of the face of the rock in it's bend.

This is an earlier sketch of the whole scheme. This changed slightly in the end, as this draft sketch did not include the bridge.
This is a sketch of the bridge orientation, and some notes i made while thinking about the clients and their relation to Power in this assignment.

On the left are some sketches of the table I ended up using for the final product, and on the right are some more short notes, and a small sketch of how I imagined Keller's elevator to work.

PEER REVIEW

4 IMAGES OF 2 DRAFT CRYSIS ENVIRONMENTS

Here I added some texture to the original environment, using a combination of 4 different rock textures, and then added a sand texture for the ground level. Later, I wanted to change the colour of the water from green to blue, so I painted the terrain below the water a "sky" texture in order to get this affect, and then later found an "underwater" texture to use as well. It was interesting to experiment with these different techniques.

This was the first attempt at creating an environment like the Twelve Apostles. Here I only used the Terrain editor in Sandbox2 to create the "rocks", but this did not have the effect I wanted as the rocks away from the shore were too smooth.

Pathways to Elevators and Meeting Place

This is some progress in Sketchup on making pathways to navigate through the environment for the clients.

Making Rocks In Sketchup Progress

To make these textures for the rocks I took a screen shot of the material in the Sandbox Editor, and then applied it to the faces of the rocks, and moved the textures around to suit the rock. This did not work at first as when the rock was imported into Sandbox it looked pixelated and did not show the colour or pattern properly.
In the end I edited the original texture image in Photoshop by blending the colours together more, and for some reason this worked.
Below is the result of importing rocks from Sketchup.
