Helen Keller:
She was born in Alabama, USA in 1880 with full sight and hearing. At 19 months old she fell ill with something doctors described as 'brain fever' and doctors today suspect was meningitis or scarlet fever. The illness left her both deaf and blind[1]. She grew up to become an American author, a political activist and a lecturer, and was the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree[2]. She was also well traveled and outspoken in her opposition to war, and campaigned for women's suffrage, worker's rights and socialism[2]. "Helen Keller was successful because of her determination. However, many people helped her. The most important person in her life was Anne Sullivan who stayed with her for 50 years."[3]

Miranda Kerr:
She was born in Sydney, Australia in 1983, and is an Australian model, mostly famous for being one of the Victoria's Secret Angels since mid-2007[1]. Kerr practices a Japanese branch of Buddhism called Nichiren Buddhism and believes: "we have a responsibility to bring peace and harmony to our lives and the world". Kerr has been called 'the next Elle MacPherson', and celebrity photographer Russell James said that "The US has fallen in love with her. We love her because she has the most incredible girl-next-door look and she's also insanely beautiful. It means women are not intimidated by her looks and guys think they might be able to talk to her. It's a fantastic combination ... people want to be around her; she's fun on a shoot … and she's not stupid, which can be a very annoying trait among some models."[1].
